And it works! Even some of the CG elements looks pretty awesome, for the budget. But Kevin Tancharoen does his best to hide his cheaper sets and mask the series' financial shortcomings with moody cinematic techniques and haunting visuals. Obviously, some elements, specifically expansive backdrops, costumes and makeup effects (Baraka sort of looks like Yogurt from Spaceballs) are brought down a little by the series' budgetary constraints.
